Family & Youth Initiative is happy to present our volunteer spotlights! We will be highlighting some of our amazing volunteers who have helped make DCFYI what it is today. Today we are highlighting DCFYI mentor Kate! Kate is a lawyer in DC who enjoys cooking, reading and traveling with her husband on her time off. She sees DCFYI as a great place to volunteer because it really feels like a family.

It's time for another volunteer spotlight! Today's volunteer we would like to highlight is Paul who has been a photographer for DCFYI since May of 2019. One of his favorite memories with DC Family and Youth Initiative was presenting a DCFYI teen with a beautiful framed portrait of her child at our annual holiday party.

Christie has been a been a volunteer with Family & Youth Initiative for five years! One of her favorite things about DCFYI is that a young person can come to events and "just be a kid". She enjoys being a part of the DCFYI community because of its low pressure environment and the way teens can be themselves when they attend our events. Thank you Christie!

Today we are spotlighting Bill! Bill has been a volunteer with DCFYI for nearly eight years and enjoys being able to experience events and develop a sense of community with foster teens and other volunteers. After becoming a volunteer he also took on the roles of mentor and Chair of the Program Evaluation Committee. Thank you Bill for being a part of the DCFYI community!

For today's spotlight we are highlighting Andre! Andre is a DCFYI volunteer, writer, entrepreneur, military retiree and art collector. Some of his favorite things about DCFYI are the opportunities to interact with and learn from young people as well as interacting with other members of the DCFYI community.

Meet today's volunteer spotlight, Heather! Heather is a long-ago DC transplant and staunch advocate for youth. She helps DCFYI by shuttling kids to DCFYI events and helps in any way needed. She enjoys volunteering for DCFYI because she gets to hang out with great kids and kind adults.

Family & Youth Initiative is looking for a dynamic professional who has both fabulous interpersonal and organizational skills, who understands the impact of childhood trauma, and believes in giving young people agency and voice.

The Youth Coordinator is a full-time position, responsible for managing all aspects of youth involvement with DCFYI.

The work is highly relational – the Youth Coordinator builds relationships, especially with youth participants for the purpose of engaging them and ensuring they get to know and match with adult volunteers.
